Case: Development and implementation of a series of interactive installations for the exhibition stand of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, as part of the "Street of the Far East" project at the Eastern Economic Forum 2024.

Location: Vladivostok.

Client: Administration of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

Task:

  • Based on the pavilion project of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug at the "Street of the Far East," develop and bring to life a series of interactive installations for various zones of the pavilion. Design the engineering solutions for the objects and produce interactive content.
From the options proposed by the creative department of OM Studio, the client approved the following zones and content elements:

  1. Tourism Zone – production of an interactive attraction based on artificial intelligence “Mother Chukotka.”

  2. Tourism Zone – production of a presentation video “Chukotka is Close.”

  3. Investment Zone – interactive attraction based on “levitating spheres.”

  4. Social Policy Zone – production of a video “Living and Working in Chukotka.”

  5. Art Zone – production of souvenir miniatures using 3D printing for painting by children and adults.

  6. Central Art Object – an interactive Chukchi ball three meters in diameter, containing the sounds of Chukotka inside.

  7. Development of laser show elements to be projected onto the pavilion at night and during the disco events.

Organize the flight of the OM Studio team to the Far East for installation and setup of equipment components and to work during the Eastern Economic Forum as technical personnel for the exhibition stand of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

Solution:

  • For the “Tourism” zone, an original interactive attraction “Mother Chukotka” was developed. The characters of Mother Chukotka and her son, the Baby Whale, were integrated into the Unreal Engine 5 game engine, along with the environment and scripts for transitioning between demonstrations of Chukotka’s tourist sites. A visitor asks the character a question and receives an AI-generated response. When asked to “show Chukotka,” the character displays a 3D map of the region and invites the guest to select a site on the map. The sites are presented as short video clips.

  • An expedition was organized to the city of Anadyr for the company’s film crew to produce the video content “Chukotka is Close” and “Living and Working in Chukotka,” based on original scripts by the creative team. DJI Cine drones and DJI Ronin 4D cameras with a set of discrete lenses were used. Editing, color correction, and sound design were carried out.

  • For the interactive investment zone, an engineering solution was developed to launch content using an object placed in a recess of the central column. A total of 6 pieces of content were created, corresponding to 6 columns, each with a levitron holding a ball linked to a specific video, which is displayed on a screen above the columns. The visitor takes the levitating ball and places it on the central column. The system launches the content on the selected topic.

  • In the “Art” zone, a photopolymer 3D printer was installed, allowing several souvenir objects to be printed at once for subsequent painting. The chosen souvenir for guests to paint and take home was the Chukchi ball. This activity proved incredibly popular not only among children but also among adults.

  • For the laser show during the evening disco, a scenario was developed based on Chukchi fairy tales, titled “Dreams of Chukotka.” Images of legendary characters are projected one after another onto the pavilion walls and, thanks to reflection, across the surrounding landscape, evoking genuine awe among spectators.

  • The central exterior art object of the exhibition – a giant Chukchi ball – was designed to convey the true magic of Chukotka. By placing a hand on a specific zone of the ball, one can hear one of ten sounds of Chukotka. Touching all zones simultaneously allows one to hear the entire soundscape of Chukotka. The sound itself emanates from the ball.

The OM Studio team assembled, installed, and configured the equipment on-site in Vladivostok and supervised the operation of the exhibits throughout the Eastern Economic Forum. The project received numerous positive reviews from forum guests and representatives of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Read the report about this unforgettable project in our BLOG.
