Case: Development and Delivery of a Software-Hardware Complex — a Multimedia Augmented Reality Interactive Screen for the “Great Patriotic War” Hall, and Production of Specialized Content for the Augmented Reality Screen at the Krymsk Local History Museum.

Location: Krymsk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia

Client: Municipal Budgetary Institution of the Krymsk Urban Settlement, Krymsk District “Krymsk Local History Museum”

Objective:
Create a multimedia complex in one of the halls of the Krymsk Local History Museum — an interactive augmented reality screen that allows visitors to virtually participate in selected historical wartime events.

Installation Workflow:
The visitor sees themselves on the screen, and the guide uses a tablet to offer six content options. The visitor’s image from the camera is overlaid onto the selected content, creating an augmented reality effect. After playback, the content enters a static phase while the camera remains active. The guide sends a command via the tablet to capture a screenshot and print a photo. Within two minutes, the visitor receives their own image integrated into the chosen scene, along with the museum’s contacts, the date of filming, and other relevant information. The video display time is unlimited, allowing the visitor to remain in the chosen virtual environment for as long as desired.

Solution:

  • Development and approval of the installation design project, integrating it into an interactive application built using 3D game engine technologies, allowing real-time exploration of the installation from the visitor’s perspective, including animated elements of interactive zones and the screen.

  • Development and creation of the content shot plan for the installation.

  • Development and creation of animatic content for the installation.

  • Development and creation of multimedia content for the installation (target resolution 3840×2160 pixels, 30 frames per second, data container supporting an alpha channel).

  • Development of the interactive application to operate the installation.

  • Selection and procurement of equipment and technical resources for the software-hardware complex according to the approved installation design project.

  • Preliminary content testing with the client’s representatives using the interactive application.

  • Delivery and installation of the software-hardware complex at the technical location within the Municipal Budgetary Institution of the Krymsk District “Krymsk Local History Museum.”

  • Testing and commissioning of the installation for operation in the museum.
